The Welcome Back Initiative:
A Study in Problem Recognition

While California needs more highly-trained employees in many key industries, the state also has a great need for more health care professionals such as nurses, respiratory technicians, dental hygienist, and physicians. California's need for these professionals is often greatest in ethnic communities where there are high populations and language barriers.

The Welcome Back Initiative seeks to meet this need by offering counseling and educational programs to internationally trained health professionals. This includes assistance in obtaining appropriate licenses, credentials, orientation and job placement to work in the US health care system, and development of US-specific leadership, management and advocacy skills among immigrant health professionals.
